Creating New Traditions

Challenging norms, clients have commissioned Amanda to create bespoke ethical engagement and commitment rings for men

With more men choosing to wear rings as a symbol of commitment and celebration of love, Amanda has now worked on several bespoke commissions for men's engagement rings. Combining her background as an architect with her skills as a goldsmith, she has worked to design and make unique and bold compositions by hand in her Hatton Garden workshop that express the style and story of the wearer.

Men have often come to Amanda struggling to find something to suit their style and taste, or wishing to have a complementing, but not identical, pair of rings. In the bespoke commissioning process, there's the opportunity to create something specially designed, from shape and form, to precious stone and metal choice, to hand-applied textures or engraving.

Complementary men'sengagement rings

Amanda has worked to create complementary but individual designs for couples.

Amanda offers an open and inclusive space, many clients come from the LGBTQ+ community and she has been commissioned by same-sex couples to create sets of complementary men's engagement rings.

Daniel and Olly, both wanted an engagement ring set with an Australian sapphire, but had different styles in mind.

Daniel was drawn to the clean lines and bold shapes of the Art Deco period, whereas Olly preferred the more organic and sinuous nature of the Art Nouveau. Together, Amanda and the couple came up with two distinct designs: a bold, geometric starburst design for Daniel with a yellow sapphire and fluid but striking pattern set with a multi-coloured parti sapphire for Olly.

Two Peas in a Pod

Amanda has created corresponding pairs of men's engagement and wedding rings.

Couples have also wanted to create a shared design, but with the potential for a complementary, but not identical, pair of rings. With this 'two peas in a pod' set of men's engagement rings, Amanda used her skills in creating and combining bespoke and contrasting tones of precious metals and stones. A contemporary interpretation of the pod in this imaginative two-tone design is a parallelogram in a contrasting metal from the band, and the peas are two diamonds. These bi-metal rings are handmade from 18ct red Fairtrade Gold and recycled platinum. The champagne and colourless diamonds are responsibly sourced from Australia. ‘My partner and I have been on a creative journey with Amanda to make our engagement and wedding rings. What was different about Amanda was that fact that we connected at a personal level. There was just an easy going, bubbly and genuine rapport with Amanda. We never once felt pressured to do things one way or another, rather she does her best to understand what’s important for us.’ H & T, Switzerland

His-and-His Wedding Bands

Once a pair of men's engagement rings have been designed, Amanda has then worked to create a matching pair of bespoke wedding bands to complete the set.

This pair of two-tone wedding rings were specially formulated and created to match the 'two peas in a pod' design, meaning each partner has a corresponding but unique set of rings. The tones of gold were specially formulated and alloyed by Amanda, using her skills as a goldsmith and eye as a designer to complete the set for this couple. See the pair of engagement rings here: 'Two Peas in a Pod'and the matching pair of wedding rings here: 'Concentric Two-Tone Wedding Rings'. Find out more about the process for this set of men's engagement rings on Amanda's Instagram post.
