Social and environmental responsibility are paramount in Amanda’s jewellery and practice. This means when you purchase or commission a piece of jewellery from Amanda, you can rest assured she will be as transparent as possible in where she sources her materials as well as how she makes it. (And, the same ethos applies if she is creating a piece reusing your own metal or gems; she will handle and treat your pieces with the utmost care and respect.)
She was one of the world’s first jewellers to sign up to be Fairtrade and Fairmined Gold licensee back in 2011. She is also a Fairtrade Gold Ambassador. These certifications schemes ensure artisanal miners received a fair price for the gold, while protecting the environment and improving their lives and communities. Her registration numbers are: FLO Cert ID 27588, Fairmined ID GB30008). To learn more, please visit the Fairtrade UK and Fairmined websites.
When Fairtrade or Fairmined metals are not practicably possible or available, Amanda will supply metals that come from 100% recycled sources. This includes the copper, silver, palladium and platinum used in her bespoke alloys.
Each piece of jewellery is handmade from start to finish by Amanda in her London studio. The unique thing about commissioning a designer-maker is that Amanda can talk you through each and every stage of the process; from the quality and provenance of the materials themselves to the handcrafted designs to the final polish. Occasionally, Amanda may outsource jewellery services outside her skill set such as stone cutting, stone setting or casting, all of whom are independent businesses based in the UK.
Contact Amanda if you have any questions about her practice or commissioning a piece of jewellery.
